The Old World

Watch this tale of faith unfurled,
How Muslims shaped America’s world;

Long before Columbus whirled,
Their stories into history swirled.

The Statue of Liberty, proudly evoked,
Modeled on a woman of Muslim fold;

Hidden truths in pages curled,
Echo voices that historically evolved.

Some historians did not flag the unfurled,
Claiming Chinese Muslims first crossed the board;

Yet fear of truth is too tightly curled,
Leaving discoveries lost, the not yet freed.

Age of exploration’s banner twirled,
Once embraced opinions, freely hurled;

Minorities’ ways, by climate changed,
Spoke of meeting New England that snowed.

To heal the rifts that war has nursed,
Negotiators’ for morals pearled;

Supporting work, and steering the curled.
For the hope across the New World.

Whys Woman,
The Old World
