Freedom of Speech vs Freedom of Abuse
This post is about “when do your rights end and mine begin?”
The author asked good questions. One of my favorite is “how does exercising my freedom, step on you enjoying a freedom of yours?”
Indeed, we are in 2026, and unfortunately; assumed ten years ago that our generation by now would have become ethical, as much as aware, of the previous mistakes our parents made. Yet, school shooting suggests otherwise. If I may ask,
Is this the result of parenting, or school teaching? I think it may have started there. But no one is willing to talk about it, or even address it. Or, maybe they are unaware. I agree with the author that we have reached a time in our history where people have to think about their freedoms, as it seems to be violated more often. This does relate to me in person, since 2021. As I reported to the police for identity theft the next year, right after the BBDO job ‘resignation’, around April-May 2022. The article stated that, since Freedom of speech is 'a cornerstone of democracy and a foundation of what we hold as important as a society,’ then how come are we violating it with people we do not want to include, or even worst, abuse?
‘We seem to have lost accountability for the way we wield our right to speak and express.’ She mentioned. The question is, this is an American born citizen writing authentically and allowing people or students like me, to reference her thinking which hopefully will create further awaken-individuals.Yet, the country that allowed such freedom of expression to reach students like me, also worth mentioning. But that does not mean I won’t ask the following question; does freedom belongs to a specific group only? And If so, then what was the purpose of writing the constitution 250 years ago?
To further feedback on the Artificial Intelligence Emotional Pitch (ad a link here), and social responsibility, identifying boundaries should be part of developing policies. We have reached time in history that it is a necessary, since freedom is directly linked to privacy.
In addition; name-calling, subtle insults, intimidation, as well as group-ganging, are all forms of abusive behaviors. A lot of people do not recognize this, nor the impact they caused on others.
As per author’s piece, and I agree; while individuals have the right to express opinions, and beliefs freely…expressing them with the intention to harm like mock, intimate, or deceit, crosses the line and becomes abusive. It is as simple as that. Therefore, whoever was involved, and still involved after reading this, big or small, is now, aware of the harm.
My POV:
My point of view is that I found a function for the hate emotion. It unites enemies against a target.
I might have become historian due to my freedom being violated on a daily bases, by the ones surrounding me, close as much as strangers. My focus on civilizations, and human behaviors, including the ones who lead, may have been a curse and a blessing.
The personalities who are historically perceived their activities as rebellious, have been targeted similarly at their time. Yet we do not admit what we do right now, because its inconvenient to discuss current abuse, but we can praise the past as its someone else’s fault. Therefore, freedom of speech vs freedom of abuse has been operated on a fine line. Personally, as a person that went though this, it has given me depth into my thinking. And through historic studies, my analysis has been either a subject to questioning, or copy-pasting, not so much about recognition or encouragement, not that I was looking for one. Nonetheless the author mentioned ‘We have entered a time in our history, where we as a society reward bad behavior.’ Do you agree?
I can tell first hand, in almost every industry, that I do agree. And, I can easily provide many examples. Starting with social media, and technology. Not to mention, the educational institutions, as well as the public spaces; including roads, and hospitality, as well as at work or office spaces. I won’t even bother mentioning police officers, or the justice department, who cannot differentiate between verbal abuse and freedom of speech. Nor the connection of financial abuse through blocking jobs using cybercrimes, the impact that such crime can block hiring opportunities, which was the case in my story since 2022. I hope you realize it can crumble someone’s life, especially if you are living in capitalism, as almost everything is about money. Therefore unable to support yourself due to cybercrimes while authorities are uneducated of the impact of its connection makes victims at the mercy of their abusers, especially when they are unaware of the crime at the beginning. Therefore using case studies, as well as education, is needed, as much as regulating policies that limits the tech companies from their power.
The algorithm that creates specific echo chamber effect, should not be feeding that ‘everyone believes the way I do’ mentality. Maybe that is okay when it comes to politics, to maintain security, but it should not be used for personal gains, under no any circumstances, red or blue.
Social media not only has became part of our news sources, the talk & comedy shows, along with print media, are all part of journalism, which has gone useless a long time ago. Do you think the people don’t know? Or have you kept them busy enough to not notice?
Hiding the truth is the exact opposite of journalism. If it was up to me, I would fire them all, or to be more accurate; fire the ones who instructed them to do so. And yes, I do agree that now people seem to believe, the truth is with the ones that beats the opposition into submission. If so, then we will not achieve global peace. This relates to my life since 2021, that got escalated in 2025.
Not that I am not powerful enough to defend myself, its that betrayal seem to come from almost everywhere, even family members. And so, the fact that people do not understand the difference between freedom of speech and freedom of abuse, is beyond concerning. Further research due to its meaning and importance, should become public knowledge as it’s shaping public opinion, as much as the culture. Therefore, making decisions without due process especially based on racism or unconscious is dangerous. Tell me, how many at the top have that? And why are you supporting them, instead of doing something about it? I have, many times. No one seem to listen. Additionally, adding even more advanced technologies such as the artificial intelligence, knowing such behaviors exists, shows reckless and chaotic leadership at the top. And in my opinion, defunding the police as the majority of the people are demanding, is the wrong move. Why? Because we want our officers to be educated on such issues, including ICE agents, which will equip them to do their job better, and make them follow the law more.
Educating on such issues, require money and resources. The author mentioned ‘I don’t believe in censorship. I do believe in the truth.’
But somehow, people who have committed to such behavior, did not get the consequence of their doing. They were blamed for someone else’s doing. While plenty have not realized the impact they have imposed on others or me, maybe they will someday, to make them aware. Only then, they might have a new respect for me, so they won’t turn the other way, because its inconvenient for them. Similar to animal rights, were our cows are suffering, while we drink their milk anytime we want, over a small price, at our restaurants or cafes.
The question is (if we don’t want to waste time), what kind of role model are we projecting on the next generation? Or the people you make them wait for 10 years to be citizens? Or better yet, what kind of generation are we creating?
Going back to my previous note at the beginning of this piece, about school shooting. Is this a parenting problem or a teaching problem? Or are we still debating on who’s responsible? That uncertainty might give you a hint of the problem, as well as why the school shooting is a pattern that exists mainly in the United States, and why it got transferred to university camps.
And with the celebration of forefathers who wrote our rights 250 years ago. If they saw what we have become, what would they say? Do I even want to know? I hope that I do. If it’s not important to realize the difference between protected speech and verbal abuse, then why educational institutions, and other companies, have the power to censer their students in classes, and sometimes outside classes? The expectation goes both ways, otherwise its discrimination and abuse of power.
On the other hand, if education cannot educate the government and win to further civilize a country, then who can? Do you think educators should be at government White House level or CEOs of tech companies?
I consider myself an educator, and I know we can win. I am not sure, maybe, I am personally experiencing part of the business of crushing souls, as the author mentioned ‘life on earth would do so’. However, as a side note, I have never been treated like this before, only in the United States, unfortunately. And, I am not looking for more.
Yet, does that mean the author did not live outside the country to explore other, or does it mean I have? And does that mean the ones in power should? So maybe, they can either understand me, or leave me alone.
I know freedom should not be like this in a democratic country. Just as much as I know that I did not come here to be tortured like this in a democratic country after 10 years of waiting to be a citizen.
