As we wrap up the year with a global note on uncertainty; A well written article addressed leadership trends to watch in 2024, so how can such skill navigate global events that are moving to 2024 unresolved? Will it create a swathe of more uncertainty, as David Rock wrote in his column. The topics are everyone’s concern, including myself. Some are related to federal election in the United States, others related to the Middle East struggle, Ukraine & Russia war. The list doesn’t stop here, it continues, DEI arguments & women rights are topics of debates, on top of education, safety, privacy, AI and more.
According to Marilyn Fleet, on The Role of Culture in Second or Foreign Language Teaching: cultural misunderstandings can lead to misinterpretations all the time in workplaces and other public spaces, in which by default will result to the lowest engagement and trust between individuals due to lack of proper education, unfair competition and freedom of expression. Another academic Mary Anne Amato, posted an article on Harvard Business Publishing ‘Kindness is literally defined as the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate’. The job of a leader is not to be a boss but to lead their team to power, encourages their team to be the best version of themselves, as it’s their own. Leaders are leaders when the ones around them are, and the kind leader is when the ones around them are too.
